Things to keep in mind when taking a bus in Korea

Good information to know when traveling to Korea

When traveling in Korea, it is recommended to use public transportation. We will introduce its advantages and ways to use it.

Advantages of public transportation

1. It’s cheap.

You can travel for less.

2. Public security is good.

Public transportation is a mode of transportation that many local Koreans also use. And in most cases, no one will be particularly interested in travelers. 99% of the time you don't have to worry about physical contact such as a robbery. Of course you may get some attention for a moment(because you are a foreigner), but everyone will do their own thing in no time.

3. You can go to many places.

Most cities and places, including tourist attractions and famous restaurants, can be reached within a short time by public transportation. The road system is well established.

Things to keep in mind when using public transportation

For both buses and subways, it is common to pay for fares using a 'transportation card'.(If not, please refer to other posts.)
In this case, you must tag once before getting on public transportation and once again after getting off public transportation. Otherwise, additional charges may apply.
There may be many reasons for creating this system, but the first one is because of the transfer system. If there is no direct route to your desired destination, you will have to transfer to another bus or subway, and a fare discount will be provided in this case. To create some structure around this, you should also tag your card when you disembark.
