The number of Supreme Court Judges in Korea

The number of Supreme Court judges in Korea is regulated by law, not the Constitution. So It can be said that the number of Supreme Court justices can be changed relatively easily because it is generally procedurally simpler to amend a law than to amend the Constitution.

Specifically, the number of Supreme Court Justices is stipulated in the 'Court Organization Act'. The legal name may be translated differently depending on the translation.

The Court Organization Act sets the number of Supreme Court Justices at 14. That is, there are 14 Supreme Court Justices, including the Chief Justice.

The term of office of Supreme Court justices is six years, and they may be reappointed. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court simultaneously holds the status of a Supreme Court Justice. The term of office is also six years, but the Chief Justice cannot be reappointed.
