In Korea, additional fee charges(if you don’t tag).
In Korea, public transportation is very developed and public safety is good, so many people use subways and buses. Also, since most of the population lives in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, public transportation is also very developed here.
If you pay by card (most people do), you'll need to tag your card back at the turnstile when you get on and off the subway or bus. In the case of the subway, you almost always have to pass by the tag place, so it is rare to get off without swiping your card. The problem is the bus.
If you do not tag your card when getting off the bus, you may be charged an additional fee. In which cases additional charges are incurred and how much they are determined is a bit complicated depending on which bus is taken and the route taken.
It varies depending on whether the bus is going from Gyeonggi-do to Seoul, and even if it is a bus within Seoul, the additional fee varies depending on the type of bus, such as a trunk bus or city bus. but there are more than four types of buses alone.
Therefore, calculating the surcharge accurately is a bit complicated. However, no matter where you board the bus in the country, if you don't tag it when you get off, it's less than 1,500 won(about 1$) no matter how much you pay. You will be charged an additional fee when you swipe your card the next time you board the bus.
So even if an additional fee is incurred, you can rest assured that it will not be a very high amount.
