Degree of internetization in Korean society and companies

Information technology is developing rapidly, and recently, each country, led by the United States, is trying to further develop AI technology. From that perspective, we can also find out to what extent Internetization or information technology is applied in society, industry, and corporate culture. In particular, the case of South Korea is as follows. The analysis below does not use specific indicators or objective figures, but is based on how information technology is actually used by overall companies.

In general, Korean companies can be said to have a high level of application of information technology, from large corporations with large capital to small and medium-sized enterprises. First of all, because Internet cables are installed throughout South Korea, you can access the Internet from anywhere in the country through a computer, laptop, or smartphone. Therefore, companies also pay a lot of attention to online methods when making products or providing services. In other words, it can be said that Internet and computer work are basically done in the work environment. Therefore, when writing related documents, programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word are often used. Additionally, document software programs specifically designed for the Korean language have been developed and are widely used which is ‘hangeul’.

It can also be mentioned that printers are frequently used. Printers are used a lot, and official documents are often processed via fax. The seal used in the past has also been replaced by a new stamp called an electronic seal, and a new electronic resident registration card has been created, which used to exist only in the form of a card.

In other words, when looking at the corporate culture that shows the industry in the most detailed way, it can be said that Korea's utilization of Internet technology is high. This is because document creation using computers is very common, and the use of printing and faxing is also high, in the case of public documents let alone private documents. This is also due to the high usage of related software. Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, as well as other programs are used a lot.
