Types of military service of Korea (Military Act 5)
The types of military service according to Article 5 of the former Military Service Act are as follows. There are mainly 5 types. There are active duty, reserve service, supplementary service, military service preparation service and wartime specific service.
1. Active duty
2. Reserve service
3. Supplementary service: A person who meets any of the following conditions:
A. Among those who were determined to be capable of active duty as a result of the military service examination, those who were not determined to be eligible for active duty service due to military supply and demand circumstances
B. A person who is serving or has completed his/her service as one of the following:
1) Social service worker 3) Art and sports worker 4) Public health doctor 5) Military service examination specialist doctor 7) Public interest legal officer 8) Public quarantine veterinarian 9) Professional research worker 10) Industrial technical worker
C. Other persons transferred to supplementary service by this Act
4. Military service preparation service: Persons liable for military service who are not active duty, reserve service, supplementary service and not wartime specific service.
5. Wartime specific service
Social workers, professional research personnel, public health doctors, doctors specializing in military service examinations, and public interest legal officers are included in supplementary service. Public quarantine veterinarians are also supplementary service.
